У 2011/2012 навчальному році атестація в основній школі проводилася з п'яти навчальних предметів: української мови, біології, географії, математики, а також іноземної мови чи іншого гуманітарного предмета за вибором навчального закладу. Державна підсумкова атестація у 9-му класі відбувалася письмово за затвердженими посібниками або усно за білетами.
